About Shemesh

More Than a Program—A Place Where Every Child Is Seen, Heard, and Supported Shemesh was born from the heart of a parent—someone who’s felt the weight of unanswered questions and the ache of navigating complex challenges alone. That’s why everything we do is grounded in empathy, expertise, and a belief in your child’s unique potential. Rooted in personal experience and professional expertise, Shemesh is a community where children are supported with individualized care, and families are guided with compassion every step of the way. This is a safe, welcoming place where growth is possible, progress is celebrated, and no one walks alone. Our team of professionals—occupational therapists, speech therapists, educators, and family coaches—collaborates using the S.U.C.C.E.S.S. ApproachSM to offer transdisciplinary, whole-child care. The result? A path that’s clear, compassionate, and tailored to your child’s needs.

Our Mission

To provide a specialized curriculum in a sensory-friendly and supportive environment that fosters functional life skills, confidence, social-emotional growth, and academic achievement—while promoting community awareness and acceptance.

Where every child’s light shines brighter.

Founder & Director – Avigayil Ishakis

“I’m a native Clevelander and dedicated educator with a degree in Education from Cleveland State University. For fifteen years, I taught first grade and passionately advocated for my students’ needs.

My journey took a deeply personal turn when my son was diagnosed with autism at age three. As the mother of a non-verbal autistic child, I’ve navigated the complex world of disability services and experienced firsthand the many challenges families face in securing the support their children need.

Now, I’m combining my professional background and personal experience to bridge the critical gap in services for children, teens, and young adults with disabilities.

Drawing on my years in education and my deep understanding of autism, I’m proud to introduce Shemesh Learning and Therapy Center—a comprehensive program designed to empower individuals with disabilities to reach their fullest potential.

As a mother of a child with Autism, I get it. I’m on this journey with you. Together let’s help our children succeed the way we know they can and deserve!”

Consulting Director – Dr. Lynette Scotese-Wojtila

Dr. Lynette Scotese-Wojtila is a licensed occupational therapist, with over 30 years of pediatric experience. Dr. Scotese-Wojtila is a Certified Autism Specialist with a dual certification in Sensory Integration (SI). She specializes in transdisciplinary care, sensory integration, therapeutic use of self, and the evaluation and treatment of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). In 1995, Dr. Scotese-Wojtila established Integrations Treatment Center, Inc. (ITC), a unique transdisciplinary outpatient, educational day treatment, and training facility designed specifically to meet the complex needs of children and adults with ASD. In 1998 she coined The S.U.C.C.E.S.S. ApproachSM, ITC’s innovative, synclectic, and neurodevelopmental model for assessing, educating and treating children and adults with autism. As an affiliate of local colleges and a Doctoral Capstone Advisor at Gannon University, Dr. Scotese-Wojtila has taught numerous classes and workshops on transdisciplinary care, sensory integration, and autism. She is published on various topics in autism including: a chapter defining transdisciplinary care in a text entitled Autism: A Comprehensive Occupational Therapy Approach, (AOTA 2001); a research study entitled High-Dose Pyridoxine and Magnesium Administration in Children with Autistic Disorder: An Absence of Salutary Effects in a Double-blind Placebo-controlled Study, (Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders, 1997): and her recent doctoral research study on The Effects of The S.U.C.C.E.S.S. ApproachSM in Preschoolers with Autism (2019). In response to the growing demand for broader distribution of The S.U.C.C.E.S.S. ApproachSM mentality, Dr. Scotese-Wojtila and film producer JW Myers, co-established AWEtism Productions LLC, and created an autism training DVD entitled It Doesn’t Need to be This Hard, for Anyone! Portions of her DVD are streamed on Dr. Scotese-Wojtila’s TV show called Connect with SUCCESS, available on The Autism Channel on Roku. Dr. Scotese-Wojtila would go on to produce her own feature length film entitled “My Hiccups are Gone” that chronicles the autism journey of a Texas family with twin boys with autism who relocate to Ohio to access The S.U.C.C.E.S.S. ApproachSM at Integrations Treatment Center. The film’s world premiere was held in October 2016 as part of the Chagrin Documentary Film Festival, in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. In addition to serving on various boards and state-orchestrated task forces, Dr. Scotese-Wojtila lectures locally and nationally and is known as a fierce advocate for both people and families with autism as well as her beloved field of occupational therapy. As ITC’s Founding Director she is committed to educating parents, professionals, and society at large, about her unique autism center in Wickliffe Ohio, and its best-practice model for autism; The S.U.C.C.E.S.S. ApproachSM
